The Story & How You Can Help

In 2007, attorney Daryl K. Washington had the mindset that an innocent person should not be denied justice due to the lack of adequate financial resources and quality legal representation. This project gained momentum due in part to the legal and racial injustices that were taking place in Jena, La. As a result, a march was organized that was estimated to have over 50,000 protestors.

Through this vision UJLDF was created, and will be working with attorneys nationwide to create an attorney referral program. The goal is to make sure eligible recipients are not denied an opportunity to receive justice.

Please support UJLDF and help us help someone in their fight against legal and racial injustices. We cannot afford to allow another individual to be denied their right to a fair trial because of the lack of resources. Your help will make a difference.
